1 Corinthians 3:6-7
6 I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God made it grow. 7 So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow.
I chose this verse for the blog today because we are building on the work of others who have come to serve Jesus. And the good news is that others are going to come after us and continue the work that we have done for Jesus.
So, I apologize for the slow update to the blog. Reliable internet service down here is one of the challenges of being in the mission field.
Wednesday brought to us a georgous day with lots of sun and lots of work! But it is progressing nicely. Wednesday also brought some sickness. We had 6 team members that needed to stay back at headquarters. I'm pleased to report that all are feeling better and will most likely be on the work site today.
On the job site we were sanding drywall, puting in windows, finishing outside trim, trimming in the windows and doors inside, texturing the walls, painting the walls and ceiling, and adding a few extras that we want to bless the family with.
At the VBS they were teaching the kids the story of Daniel in the Lion's den. The kids got to make Lion puppets. The kids are really building bonds of trust. On Thursday, we will present the gospel story, please pray that those kids who have not accepted Jesus as Savior will hear the good news.
We left the job site came back to our base and we had an amazing supper of fresh hand made tacos. We also had a chance to check out some other local awesome food.
Then we had the amazing opportunity to worship at the church with which we are working to build houses for. The Pastor made us feel very welcome and with an interpreter we could all worship together. I got to share a few words of truth how we are all one in Christ, and God asks us to serve him humbly. The prayer time with each language praising God was also amazing. We filled this tiny church and they had to bring in extra chairs.
We closed out our day by helping Amanda Mulder celebrate her 15th birthday. We did it by getting her a pinĂ ta and she broke the broom hitting it! Root beer floats closed out a long day.
Thursday we will finish the houses, close out VBS, and we will dedicate the houses. Many tears of joy ahead!
